You learn something new everyday, and sometimes it can change your life.

Sorry to be so blog-happy, but this deserved a post. A friend in my Spanish class told me of something incredible, amazing, revolutionary, wonderful, even fantastical!

The Interrobang.

Blogger says I spelled that word wrong. In fact, most people don't recognize it as being real. "It" is a fabulous, efficient punctuation mark, combining the question mark and the exclamation point.

Amazing, rightNo more of this, "He said what??!?!?!?!?!", although that can be fun sometimes.

Tickle Me Emo

Yesterday began with a frown on Dianey's face. I woke up late, due to being trapped in vivid, strange, frightening dreams, which kept continuing on since I turned off my alarm after pushing snooze half a dozen times. As soon as I ripped my mind from this state and regained consciousness, my first thought of the day was "I'm late". And truly, I was: my class started in 25 minutes and that's almost how long it takes to get to school on a skip-breakfast day.

Skipped the shower (just donned a hat), skipped the breakfast, skipped the deodorant (remembered halfway to school... curses! How am I ever going to get myself hitched if I don't even have time for personal hygiene?) and took longer strides than my little legs can tolerate, trying to not be too late for class and the quiz that I hadn't finished reading for, and the assignment I hadn't even started yet.

But then I got an 8/10 due to some lucky guessing + the easiness of the quiz, and a friend in my class even gave me half of his paper so I didn't need to bother tearing out my own piece, and the assignment wasn't really due, just was being peer-reviewed, and I didn't even have a chance to actually be sad about anything.

I was feeling grumpy about my weaknesses. I'm a procrastinator, I don't manage my time well, and sometimes I don't take school seriously enough. But it was incredible how despite all this, my blessings were so apparent!

You should've seen me: trying so hard to have a bad day. I felt like a wanna-be emo. But no matter how hard I tried to find something to grumble about, I couldn't. I was just too happy! Life is too wonderful. I have too many blessings, too many reasons to smile, know too many incredible people. The gospel is too true.

If anybody thinks I'm a faker, you're wrong. This smile isn't plastered on. It's permanent.

That Mother Teresa knows her stuff

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world your best and it may never be enough;
Give the world your best anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

The list of Lunes

-I've perfected the sound of a trumpeter elephant by blowing my nose so much.
-I found a Plane ticket to Mexico at $354 with taxes and fees. Too good to be true?
-Every time I hear about someone else becoming engaged, I wonder how in the world they have time for such a luxury. And then I wonder what all the hype is about. (Those of you engaged out there: I know you're actually extremely busy and being engaged/marriage/all that jazz is probably actually extremely incredible.) :)
-I've been overwhelmed this week by people who love me a whole lot.
-School is almost getting out of control. "School" is the name of my favorite chestnut-colored stallion. Woah, girl.
-Life is jam-packed with humbling experiences and reality checks.
-Life is also full of daily reminders that my Heavenly Father loves me, trusts me, and is rooting for me. He loves you too and knows you by name. This is a really good website if you want to know more, Stan*.

*Stan is the name that I just created for my reader from Bangladesh.

Friend

Bits of paper cling to a notebook's spine
Confessions to be pulled out of my soul
I need firm hands to tear them all away
and ears to listen as my words spill out
The job is messy, quite undignified
and yet rewarding when the task is done
Fragile, weak, small without my paper bits
you kindly help me take them to the trash

My Life is a Soap Opera

"So I'll see you tonight then."
"Yep. I look forward to it!"
"Great! Love ya!"
"Bye."

I got off the phone with the one I had been seeing for a while now. It had become quite a regular occurrence, and I was getting used to having someone new in my life. This person made me feel happy, made me feel like I could talk about anything, and really open myself up. Our interactions were therapeutic, and I always left feeling like a better person. I felt love. But I guess it just wasn't enough.

Over the next few weeks, I started sharing some of my time with another. It had happened before, back in the summertime, and things began to return to the way they used to be. Except now I already had someone in my life. Tragically, instead of making a decision, I let them both believe that nothing had changed and I belonged to both of them.

All was going smoothly. No one suspected anything. Until one morning, this very morning, I was awakened by a phone call. I had been up late the night before with one of them. And now the other was calling! I had set a time to meet and had completely forgotten. Had my unfaithfulness been discovered? The disapproval and suspicion in the words I heard were almost as tangible as my fists which were pressing against my eyes, trying to cut off the world and my reality. I heard myself make a weak excuse to cancel our meeting, and hung up the phone. I fought back the tears. I felt so torn! I knew this was no substitute for real happiness. How long could I go on like this? I thought I was invincible, but everything started crashing down around me.

I mean seriously. Running with Suzie every MWF and Holly every TTh? Someone's going to get hurt.
